EGX ends Wednesday in green; market cap adds EGP 12.5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session in green territory on the back of foreign and Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index jumped 2.17% or 319.07 points, its highest level since November 2017, closing at 15,037.05.

The EGX70 index increased 1.85% to 854.11 points, while the EGX100 index added 1.40% to 2,038 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index grew 2.15% to 2,653 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume reached 215.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.12 billion through 29,470 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 434.16 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 393.12 million and EGP 41.04 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) went up 2.49% to EGP 77.5 at a turnover of EGP 78.21 million.

EFG Hermes led rising blue chips with a 5.99% increase, followed by SODIC and GB auto which rose 5.56% and 5.19%, respectively.

On the other hand, Eastern Co topped declining blue chips with a 1.38% drop, followed by Orascom Construction and Telecom Egypt which fell 1.10% and 0.92%, respectively.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 853.7 billion and gained EGP 12.56 billion.
