EGX ends Wednesday in green; market cap gains EGP 12.4bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session up, backed by non-Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index soared 361.81 points, or 2.26%, closing at 16,384.07 points.

Market capitalistion gained EGP 12.4 billion and closed at EGP 952.8 billion.

The small- and medium-caps EGX70 index edged up 0.29% to 884.02 points, while the broader EGX100 index jumped 2.18% to 2,211 points.

Trading volume reached about 330.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.9 billion through 36,600 transactions.

Non-Arab investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 264.9 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 258.7 million and EGP 6.13 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 3.79% to EGP 84 at a turnover of EGP 266.5 million.

Eastern Co led rising blue chips with a 6.14%, followed by EFG Hermes which went up 3.88%.

On the other hand, SODIC topped declining stocks with 4.55%, followed by Abu Qir Fertilizers and Amer Group which fell 3.26% and 3.12%, respectively.
