EGX ends Wednesday in green; market cap gains EGP 7.5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session on a positive note on the back of foreign and Arab purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 index advanced by 1.06%, ending the session at 14,209 points.

In the meantime, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index increased by 1.37% to 531.47 points, while the broader EGP100 index grew by 1.22% to 1,407 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index rose by 1.35% to close at 2,045 points.

Market capitalisation gained about EGP 7.47 billion to close at EGP 714.96 billion on Wednesday, compared to EGP 707.49 billion on Tuesday.

Trading volume amounted to 276.23 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.3 billion through about 22,920 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 105.76 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 27.63 million and EGP 78.12 million, respectively.
