Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session down, pressured by local selling.
The benchmark EGX30 index closed down 0.12%, or 18.03 points, to 14,904.82 points.
The small-and medium-caps EGX70 index inched down 0.01% to 826.31 points and the broader EGX100 index dipped 0.02% to 1,961.26 points.
The equal-weighted EGX50 index slipped 0.15% to 2,556 points.
Trading volume stood at 150.3 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 789.24 million through 20,050 transactions.
Egyptian traders were mostly sellers, netting EGP 61.32 million, while foreign and Arab traders were net buyers with EGP 37.6 million and EGP 23.7 million, respectively.
Market capitalisation closed at EGP 823.7 billion and gained EGP 16.8 billion.
The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 0.35% to EGP 76 at a turnover of EGP 32.5 million.
Blue chips including EFG Hermes, Heliopolis Housing, and Sidpec rose 1.89%, 1.64%, and 1.46%, respectively.
On the other hand, Eastern Co, Domty, and Telecom Egypt fell 4.33%, 3.38%, and 3.04%, respectively.
