EGX ends Wednesday in red

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session down, pressured by Arab and local sell-offs.

The benchmark EGX30 index fell 139.94 points, or 0.9%, finishing the session at 15,488.49 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index tumbled 1.35% to 747.16 points, while the broader EGX100 index shed 1.22% to 1,920.69 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index fell 1.37% to 2,435 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 217.9 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 800.35 million through 22,300 transactions.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 46.22 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 17,080 and EGP 29.13 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) slid 1.17% at EGP 85, with a turnover of EGP 148.5 million.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 8.04 billion and closed at EGP 859.4 billion.
