EGX ends Wednesday mixed; market cap gains EGP 3.1bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has closed Wednesday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index added 57.7 points, or 0.38%, finishing the session at 15,213 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index slipped 0.31% to 719 points, while the broader EGX100 index shed 0.21% to 1,818 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index jumped 1.39% to 2,479 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 401.7 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.66 billion through 35,290 transactions.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) levelled up 0.61% to EGP 74.8, with a turnover of EGP 235.8 million.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 839.5 billion and gained EGP 3.1 billion.

Egyptian investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 183.7 million, whereas Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 9.2 million and EGP 174.5 million.
