EGX ends Wednesday mixed; market cap sheds EGP 2.4bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session on a mixed note amid Arab and foreign buying and local selling.

The benchmark EGX30 index slid 122.41 points, or 0.67%, finishing the session at 18,173 points.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 2.4 billion and closed at EGP 1.003 trillion.

The small- and medium-cap EGX70 index climbed 1.01% to 886.04 points, while the broader EGX100 index added 0.59% to 2,320 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index edged up 0.19% to 3,069 points.

Trading volume stood at around 224.4 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.4 billion through 34,900 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 97 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 21.8 million and EGP 75.18 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) tumbled 0.69% to EGP 94.5, with a turnover of EGP 123.4 million.
