EGX ends Wednesday mixed; market cap sheds EGP 804m

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has closed Wednesday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index added 0.21%, finishing the session at 15,197 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index fell 1.42% to 676.95 points, while the broader EGX100 index plummeted 1.16% to 1,727 points.

 The equal-weighted EGX50 index inched up 0.05% to 2,412 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 135.9 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 856.1 million through 21,000 transactions.

Foreign investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 61.03 million, whereas Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 60.9 million and EGP 61.8 million.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 0.12% to EGP 73.2, with a turnover of EGP 152 million.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 828.8 billion and lost EGP 804.8 million.
