EGX ends Wednesday on negative note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session in red territory.

The benchmark EGX30 index shed 0.77%, finishing the session at 14,772.34 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) dropped 1.82% to EGP 69.53, with a turnover of EGP 30.8 million.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index inched down 0.18% to 714.96 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index rose 0.27% to 1,801 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index fell 0.49% to 2,457 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 234.9 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 662.7 million through 22,600 transactions.

Market capitalisation closed the session at EGP 823.9 billion, losing EGP 3.9 billion.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 345.7 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 334.6 million and EGP 11.06 million, respectively.
