EGX ends on mixed note, benchmark hits 2 weeks high

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices closed on mixed note on Monday, while the benchmark index EGX30 added 0.81% or 54.6 points to close at 6,762.3 points, its most high level in two-weeks.

The small and mid - cap index EGX70 inched down 0.02% to 366.29 points, while the broader index EGX100 edged down 0.85% to 756.57 points.

On other hand, the equal-weighted index EGX50 added 0.34% to 1,148.62 points.

Monday's total turnover reached EGP 605.4 million, upon trading 336.8 million shares through 20,600 transactions.

The market capitalisation gained EGP 372.9 million ($47.6 million) on institutions buying, to reach EGP 422.7 billion.

Foreign and Arab investors stepped in as net buyers with EGP 13.7 million and EGP 10.5 million respectively, while local investors came as net sellers with EGP 24.2 million.

Institutions were net buyers, while retail traders were net sellers.

Out of the 182 companies traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 70 to 57, while 55 others remained unchanged.
