EGX hits record high Monday on Arab, foreign buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a positive performance on Monday on the back of Arab and foreign buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index closed up 1.23% or 172.8 points to highest levels in history at 14,197 points.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 779.8 billion, gaining EGP 6.3 billion.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) rose 2.72% to EGP 78.2.

The EGX70 index edged up 0.36% to 780.08 points, while the EGX100 index added 0.52% to 1,755.41 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted EGX50 index grew 1.04% to 2,515 points.

Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 63.9 million and EGP 79.8 million, respectively, whereas Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 143.7 million.

Trading volume stood at 480 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.47 billion through 38,750 transactions.
