EGX hits record highs at Monday’s close

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday up on the back of foreign purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 index soared 350.67 points, or 2.14%, closing at 16,742.15 points.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 969.26 billion and gained EGP 14.8 billion.

The EGX70 index jumped 1.22% to 905.28 points, while the EGX100 index grew 1.11% to 2,242 points.

Trading volume stood at about 505.63 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 2.4 billion through 44,170 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 210 million, while non-Arab and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 193.4 million and EGP 16.6 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 3.69% to EGP 87.10 at a turnover of EGP 157.9 million.
