EGX hovers over 14,900 pts; market cap grows EGP 8.2bn Thursday

Cairo — Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session in green territory, encouraged by foreign and Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index added 1.78%, finishing the last session of the week at 14,904.03 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index inched up 10% to 708.73 points, while the broader EGX100 index rose 0.32% to 1,787.05 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index advanced 1.27% to 2,424 points.

Trading volume amounted to 233.3 million shares exchanged through 26,900 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.16 billion.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 500.9 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 496.3 million and EGP 4.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) hiked 2.53% to EGP 70.5 at a turnover of EGP 131.14 million.

The bourse’s market capitalisation gained EGP 8.2 billion, closing at EGP 825.27 billion.
