EGX in green at open

 

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened the mid-week trading session in the green zone by 10:45am Cairo time.

The main index EGX30 added 0.22%, or 17.5 points, to stand at 8,050 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 rose 0.12% to the mark of 356.7 points.

Likewise, the broader index EGX100 and the equal-weighted index EGX50 edged up 0.1% to 801.8 points and 0.13% to 1370.95 points.

Both nationals and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 1 million and EGP 345,000 respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 1.4 million.

Trading value reached EGP 88 million after 18.7 million shares were traded.

Out of 78 traded stocks, 31 were up, 12 down, 36 flat.

EFG-Hermes was the most active stock in terms of value and volume after registering more than EGP 38.8 million for 3.2 million shares.

Market analyst Ahmed Al-Bagory said the benchmark index EGX30 is expected to move sideways today, targeting the 7,900-8,000 area, which was earlier the beginning of further gains.

The index will maintain its upward note on the short-term as long as holding above 7,900 points, the analyst added.
