Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange indices closed on mixed note on Tuesday, as the benchmark index EGX30 inched up 0.30% or 18.29 points to close at 6,104.74 points.
The small and mid-caps index EGX70 inched down 0.54% to 352.01points, while the broader index EGX100 inched up 0.10% to 718.43 points.
“The market indices reflected mixed performance today, while most of the stocks ended near their lowest levels through the session,” said Sameh Gharib, head of technical research, Roots Securities.
The benchmark advanced in early trade until it hit the resistance level of 6,122 points, where it witnessed selling pressures that pushed it lower to erase part of its gains , added the analyst.
The stocks of EFG-Hermes, Talaat Moustafa Group and Juhayna surged 0.72%, 2.36% and 1.62% respectively.
The heavy weight Commercial International Bank fell 1.55%.
The market capitalisation gained EGP 332.6 million ($42 million) reaching EGP 390.9 billion.
The market’s total trading value amounted to EGP 487 million.
Out of 164 stocks traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 59 to 57, while 48 others remained unchanged.
Local and Arab investors ended as net buyers with EGP 23.4 million and EGP 13.8 million respectively, while foreign investors ended as net sellers with EGP 37.3 million.
