Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices closed on mixed note on Tuesday, as the benchmark index EGX30 moved above the level of 6,000 points after it added 1.73% or 101.93 points, to close at 6,008.85 points.
The market capitalization gained EGP 4.2 billion ($537.9 million) reaching EGP 392.6 billion up from EGP 388.4 billion in the earlier session.
Tuesday’s trade was supported by the buying activity of Arab investors and local institutions.
The equal weighed index EGX 70 went down 0.9% to 349.20, while the broader index EGX100 sagged 0.55% to 703.71 points.
The equal weighed index EGX50 added 1.45% to 1,100.15 points.
Tuesday’s total turnover reached EGP 630.5 million, upon trading 247 million shares carried out through 22,800 transactions.
Local and foreign investors came out as net sellers with EGP 4.4 million and EGP 47.4 million respectively, while Arab investors stepped in as net buyers with EGP 51.8 million.
Institutions ended as net buyers, except the foreign ones, while retail investors ended as net sellers.
Out of 156 stocks traded today, advancers outnumbered decliners by 95 to 31, while 30 stocks remained unchanged.
