EGX jumps 1.56% in week; market cap adds EGP 10bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) rose during the second week of February ended Thursday, 14 February.

The benchmark EGX30 index closed this week 1.56% up at 14,984.46 points, versus 14,753.68 last week.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) jumped 7.01% this week to EGP 88.85, with a turnover of EGP 349.6 million exchanged through 3.9 million shares.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index rose 2.94% to 712.42 points at the end of the week, versus closing at 692.04 points last week.

Meanwhile, the broader EGX100 index went up 2.7% to 1,798.76 points, versus 1,751.44 points at last week’s close.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index closed the week 1.5% up at 2,411.36 points.

Market capitalisation closed the week at EGP 827.599 billion and gained EGP 10.183 billion.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 1.3 billion, whereas Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 1 billion and EGP 313.3 million, respectively.
