EGX likely to allow short selling in Q3 – FRA’s vice chairman

By: Ahmed Allam

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority’s (FRA) vice chairman Khalid El Nashar expected short-selling transactions to be allowed by the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) starting from the third quarter of 2019.

The EGX is currently in talks with Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry to complete the trial implementation of the new mechanism, El Nashar added.

In June, FRA’s chairman Mohamed Omran approved granting licences to five companies to conduct short-selling transactions.
