EGX loses EGP 4.2bn in market cap at Wednesday's close

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session on a mixed note amid local purchases and foreign and Arab selloffs.

The main EGX30 index dropped by 1.17%, ending the session at 10,933 points.

On the other hand, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI advanced by 0.45% to 1,283 points, while the broader EGX100 EWI went up by 0.15% to 2,047 points.

Meanwhile, the equal-weighted EGX50 index fell by 0.36% to close at 1,636 points.

The market cap value lost EGP 4.2 billion to close at EGP 578.78 billion on Wednesday.

Foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 127.89 million and EGP 14.25 million, respectively, while local investors were net buyers with EGP 142.14 million.

The market’s turnover reached EGP 910.8 million after 287.2 million shares were exchanged through about 34,040 transactions.
