EGX lures 1,150 foreign investors in 2017

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has attracted about 1,150 foreign investors, including individuals, retails, and investment funds in 2017, Egypt’s investment minister Sahar Nasr said during the EGX annual conference of 2017.

Foreign buying on the EGX stood at EGP 7.4 billion in 2017, the EGX chairman Mohamed Farid said on Tuesday.

Farid previously stated that foreign investments in the EGX totalled EGP 13 billion after the flotation of the Egyptian pound on 3 November 2016.

Overseas holdings of Egyptian debt instruments have jumped to $15 billion since the liberalisation of the exchange rate.
