EGX main index jumps 4% in mid-session

Cairo – Mubasher: Cairo bourse kept moving in the green zone during Sunday’s mid-trading session as the benchmark index added 289.9 points, or 4.04%, to 7,473.3 points by 12:38pm Cairo time.

The Egyptian Exchange suspended trading on 15 stocks after they registered rise exceeding 5%, most significantly including Palm Hills, ODH, Amer Group, and Beltone Holding.

On the same positive note, the small and mid-cap EGX70 rose by 0.61% to 356.2 points and the broader index EGX100 was 1.2% higher to 762.9 points.

The largest EGX30 constituent CIB gained 5.8% to EGP 42.38 with a turnover of EGP 73.04 million.

Nationals were net buyers by EGP 42.3 million, while Arab and Foreign investors were net sellers by EGP 5.4 million and EGP 36.9 million respectively.

Last week, the benchmark index (EGX30) unexpectedly gained 240 points, or 2.88%, to hit the mark of 7,182 points, said Sameh Gharib, head of technical research at Roots Stock Brokerage House, forecasting the next target to be the mark of 7,275 points.
