EGX moves lower in early trade on foreign selling activity

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange opened on negative note on Tuesday amid remarkable selling activity by foreign investors.

The benchmark index EGX30 lost 2.58% reaching the level of 6,015.35 points.

Local and Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 1.72 million and EGP 7.7 million respectively, while foreign investors ended as net sellers with EGP 9.45 million.

The leading stocks showed mixed performance, as the Commercial International Bank slipped 4.26% and Talaat Moustafa fell 1.59%, while Orascom Telecom Media gained 1.79%.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 edged down 0.09% to 352.22 points, while the broader index EGX100 inched down 0.56% to 706.06 points.

The equal weighed index EGX50 declined 1.42% to 1,083.04 points.

The market witnessed, in Tuesday’s early trade, 98.3 million shares changed hands worth EGP 136 million carried out through 5,000 transactions.
