EGX nets EGP 7bn foreign investments in 11M

Cairo – Mubasher: Purchases of the non-Arab foreign investors in the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) amounted to around EGP 7.04 billion in the first 11 months of 2018.

Total sales of Arab investors in the Egyptian bourse stood at around EGP 223.4 million since the beginning of the year, data by the EGX showed.

In November, the EGX’s chairman said that foreign buying the local market has been stable since the libralisation of the exchange rate between EGP 19 and EGP 20 billion.

Month-on-month, foreign investors dominated about 19.16% of the market’s trading in November, while Arab and Egyptian investors accounted for 16.51% and 64.33%, respectively.

Turnover in the Egyptian stock market reached nearly EGP 28.4 billion last month, while trading volume amounted to 5.2 billion shares exchanged through 551,000 transactions.

The benchmark EGX30 index edged up 0.5% to 13,320 points last November.
