EGX opens 1st trading day of 2018 up

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices rose on Tuesday's early trades, the first trading session in 2018, backed by Arab buying.

By 10:20 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index gained 0.10%, or 14.79 points, to 15,033.93.

Similarly, the small- and medium-caps EGX70 index edged up 0.41% to 831.03 points, while the broader EGX100 added 0.30% to 1,977.66 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index went up 0.41% to 2,579 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume reached about 7.5 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 31.7 million through 1,100 transactions.

Arab investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 1.5 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 247,400 and EGP 1.3 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) slipped 0.18% to EGP 77.21 at a turnover of EGP 236,700.
