Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange initiated Monday's trading session on a stronger note as the main index gained 23 points, or 0.28%, to level up at 8,460 points by 11:00am Cairo local time (CLT).
The small and mid-cap index edged up 0.08% to 352.7 points and the broader index EGX100 was higher 0.24% to 807.9 points.
Meanwhile, the equal-weighted index EGX50 inched down 0.05% to 1,353 points. S
National and Arab investors were net buyers by EGP 2.1 million and EGP 5.2 million, while foreigners were net seller by EGP 7.3 million.
Trading value reached EGP 126 million after 29 million shares were traded.
The largest EGX30 constituent CIB was placed at EGP 53.1 with a 0.3% rise, topping the most active stock in terms of value by EGP 21.3 million.
Beltone was the best advancer by 9.96%, while the National Real Estate Bank was the worst performer with a 4.6% decline.
Market analyst Sameh Ghareeb earlier said the main index may hit the 8,500 area only if strong buying activity takes place today.
By holding above this zone, the index will likely target the 8,800 mark; otherwise, it will decline to the first support area at 8,300 points and then at 8,100 points, the analyst clarified.
