EGX opens Monday near 16,500 pts

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has seen an upward trend early Monday, backed by local and foreign buying.

By 10:20 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 88.48 points, or 0.54%, to 16,480.96 points.

The EGX70 index added 0.21% to 896.24 points, while the EGX100 index grew 0.5% to 2,228 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.62% to 2,799 points.

Trading volume stood at around 63.58 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 235.6 million through 2,900 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 45.14 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 13.68 million and EGP 31.46 million, respectively.

 The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) inched up 0.07% to EGP 84.06 at a turnover of EGP 126,019.
