EGX opens Sunday in red

Cairo – Mubasher: Foreign and Arab sell-offs weighed on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) early Sunday.

The benchmark EGX30 index lost 269.9 points, or 1.97%, to 13,405.47 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index dipped 0.13% to 686.57 points, while the broader EGX100 index shed 0.39% to 1,717.27 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted EGX50 index plummeted 1.26% to 2,203 points.

Trading volume amounted to 39.9 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 130.6 million through 4,110 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 12.5 million, whereas foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 5.7 million and EGP 6.7 million, respectively.

The Commercial International Bank (CIB) dropped 3.74% to EGP 76.5.
