EGX opens Thursday in green

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started Thursday, the last session of the week, in green territory, encouraged by foreign and Egyptian buying.

By 10:02 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 196.35 points, or 1.53%, to 13,036 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index inched up 0.15% to 673,040 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index added 0.32% to 1,687 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.96% to 2,131 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 19.7 million shares exchanged through 2,400 transactions at a turnover of EGP 83.04 million.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 3.5 million, while Egyptian and foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 3.16 million and EGP 390,030, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) levelled up 1.18% to EGP 73.51.
