EGX opens Thursday near-stable

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Thursday’s trading session up on the back of foreign and Arab buying.

By 10:17 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index inched up 0.03% or 4.8 points to 15,197.35.

The EGX70 index added 0.83% to 841.38 points, while the EGX100 index gained 0.58% to 2,002 points.

The equal-weight EGX50 index edged up 0.64% to 2,660 points.

Trading volume stood at about 21.13 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 87.6 million through 1,700 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 3.4 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 3.4 million and EGP 358,600, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 0.14% to EGP 80 at a turnover of EGP 2.9 million.

The EGX is expected to maintain the upward trend as the EGX30 is likely to retest 15,215 points.
