EGX opens Thursday near-stable

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) rose slightly early Thursday, the last trading session of January, on the back of local and non-Arab purchases.

By 10:24 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index inched up 9.39 points, or 0.07%, to 14,102 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index added 0.13% to 688.07 points, while the broader EGX100 index edged up 0.07% to 1,730 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.28% to 2,279 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume reached 19.5 million exchanged at a turnover of EGP 85.4 million through 2,300 transactions.

Arab traders were net sellers with EGP 6.6 million, while Egyptian and foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 4.2 million and EGP 2.4 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) inched up 0.04% to EGP 83.04.
