EGX opens Thursday on mixed note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Thursday’s trading session on a mixed note ahead of the Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) Monetary Policy Committee's (MPC) decisions.

By 10:26 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index inched up 0.02% or 3.22 points to 14,908 points.

The small- and medium-caps EGX70 index dipped 0.01% to 826.2 points, while the broader EGX100 index inched down 0.01% to 1,961.37 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.02% to 2,556 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume reached about 11.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 44.7 million through 2,200 transactions.

Egyptian investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 174.6 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 30,400 and EGP 144,200, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) went up 0.52% to EGP 76.6 at a turnover of EGP 12,500.
