EGX opens Tuesday mixed; EGX70 hits highest since October 2009

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note amid foreign buying against local and Arab selling.

By 10:26 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index tumbled 0.26% or 39.67 points to 15,328.59 points.

The EGX70 index jumped 1.51% to 874.38 points, while the EGX100 index added 0.9% to 2,061 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index edged up 0.41% to 2,749 points.

Trading volume amounted to about 23.27 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 88.4 million through 2,500 transactions.

Foreign investors mostly buyers, netting EGP 4.6 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 3.9 million and EGP 721,100 respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) slid 0.58% to EGP 80.51 at a turnover of EGP 1.07 million.
