EGX opens Wednesday in green, hovers around 15,250 pts

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) moved upwardly early Wednesday on the back of local and foreign purchases.

By 10:15 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 86.93 points, or 0.57%, to 15,242.77 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index added 0.43% to 725.04 points, while the broader EGX100 index levelled up 0.46% to 1,830 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index jumped 1.3% to 2,477 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume amounted to around 24.6 million shares exchanged through 2,450 transactions at a turnover of EGP 144.03 million.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 7.3 million, whereas Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 7.12 million and EGP 186,500, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) added 0.27% to EGP 74.55.
