EGX opens Wednesday in green

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) hit record highs early Wednesday on the back of non-Arab buying.

By 10:22 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index soared 320.66 points, or 2%, to 16,342.92 points.

The EGX70 index edged up 0.42% to 885.19 points, while the EGX100 index jumped 1.61% to 2,198 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.75% to 2,775 points.

Trading volume stood at about 47.8 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 230.3 million through 3,300 transactions.

Non-Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 39.4 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 38.7 million and 701,900, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 3.21% to EGP 83.53 at a turnover if EGP 59.43 million.
