EGX opens Wednesday in green

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started Wednesday’s trading session up on the back of foreign buying, coinciding with the third day of Egypt’s presidential election.

By 10:28 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 74.84 points, or 0.44%, to 17,345.65 points.

The EGX70 index inched down 0.09% to 868.97 points, while the EGX100 index remained stable at 2,237 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index rose 0.99% to 2,957 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 187.7 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 321.3 million through 5,400 transactions.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 25.5 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 11.8 million and EGP 13.7 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 0.14% to AED 87.99.
