EGX opens Wednesday in red

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a downturn trend early Wednesday, pressured by Arab and foreign selling.

By 10:12 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index fell 0.87% or 131.42 points to 15,184.16 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 1.57% to EGP 79.2 at a turnover of EGP 3.9 million.

The EGX70 index slipped 0.42% to 871.64 points, while the EGX100 index tumbled 0.36% to 2,059 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index slid 0.28% to 2,733 points.

Trading volume reached about 7.39 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 31 million through 955 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 2.8 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 421,600 and EGP 2.3 million, respectively.
