EGX opens Wednesday near-stable

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a positive performance early Wednesday on the back of Arab and foreign buying.

By 10:28 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index gained 0.25% or 37.22 points to 15,196.59 points.

The EGX70 index dipped 0.06% to 831.07 points, while the EGX100 index inched up 0.03% to 1,982.68 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.39% to 2,623.56 points.

Trading volume stood at about 21.2 million shares exchanged through 2,500 transactions at a turnover of EGP 73.7 million.

Egyptian investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 6.1 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 2.6 and EGP 3.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) slipped 0.57% at a turnover of EGP 4.7 million.
