EGX opens Wednesday near-stable

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of Egyptian Exchange (EGX) rose slightly early Wednesday on the back of purchases by local investors.

By 10:26 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index edged up 0.15% to 14,751.2 points, gaining 22.8 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index remained stable at 708.16 points, while the broader EGX100 index inched up 0.02% to 1,785 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index went up 0.39% to 2,409 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume reached 18.22 million shares exchanged through 1,800 transactions at a turnover of EGP 58.8 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 1.6 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 874,900 and EGP 739,900, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) has not seen any trades yet.
