EGX opens Wednesday near-stable

Cairo – Mubasher: Purchases by Egyptian and foreign investors in the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) have pushed the indices slightly up early Wednesday.

By 10:30 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index inched up 0.04% to 15,094 points, gaining 5.9 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index added 0.12% to 668.62 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index edged up 0.11% to 1,707 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.42$ to 2,372 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume amounted to around 7.4 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 31.8 million through 1,220 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 3.09 million, while Egyptian and foreign were net buyers with EGP 2.6 million and EGP 485,700, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 0.18% to EGP 73.5.
