EGX opens above 13,500 points

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started Wednesday on a positive note as the main index added 100.3 points or 0.8% to 13,536.4 points by 10:41am Cairo local time (CLT).

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 rose 0.23% to 482.7 points and the broader index EGX100 increased 0.42% to 1,174.5 points.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 was higher 0.5% to 2,102.26 points.

Trading value reached EGP 312 million after 85.2 million shares were traded by 10:46am CLT.

Nationals and foreigners were net buyers by EGP 6.02 million and EGP 1.2 million, while Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 7.2 million.  
Technical analyst Safaa Faris said the index is likely to see a short-term rising trend but will encounter strong resistance at 13,400 points, adding that passing 13,400 will enable the index to target the level of 13,850 points.
