EGX opens higher on national buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange started the mid-week trading session on a positive note as the main index EGX30 rose 0.9% to 12,891 points by 10:21am Cairo local time.

The largest EGX30 constituent added 0.91% to stand at EGP 74.51 with a turnover of EGP 4.14 million.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 was 0.2% higher to 461.3 points and the broader index moved up 0.34% to 1,108.1 points.

The equal-weighted index increased 0.8% to 1,999.12 points.

Trading value stood at EGP 70.1 million after 129.4 million shares were traded by 10:24am Cairo time.

Egyptians were net buyers by EGP 8.1 million, while Arab and foreigners were net sellers by EGP 394,000 and EGP 6.1 million, respectively.

Ayman Fouda, head of capital market committee at the African Economic Council, expected foreign institutions to boost the Egyptian bourse, clarifying that the main gauge is facing resistance at the 12,946-13,100 zone while having support at the 12,730-600 area.
