EGX opens in green; ADIB drops 1%

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices opened Wednesday in the positive territory, backed by foreign and Egyptian buying.

The EGX30 gained 0.15% or 17.4 points to 11,537.15 points by 10:37am Cairo time, while the EGX70 added 0.4% to 440 points.

The EGX100 and EGX50 indices increased 0.94% and 0.04% to 1,054.79 and 1,807.4 points, respectively.

Ezz Steel was the most active in terms of turnover with EGP 59.7 million at 10:43am Cairo time. The stock grew 2.68% to EGP 11.13. Madinet Nasr Housing jumped 9.97% to EGP 81.19.

On the flipside, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB) shed 1.19% to EGP 5, after the bank reported that its CEO Nevine Lofty had passed away.

The heavy weighted Commercial International Bank's (CIB) stock lost 0.3% to EGP 69.01, while Global Telecom was down 0.38% to EGP 5.97.

Foreigners and Egyptians were net buyers with EGP 2.99 million and 2.6 million, respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 5.6 million.

By 10:49am CLT, turnover reached EGP 349.9 million after 92 million shares changed hands.
