EGX opens mid-week session 54pts lower

Cairo – Mubasher: Cairo bourse initiated Tuesday’s trading session on a lower note.

The main index EGX30 lost 53.7 points, or 0.73% to reach 7,288.8 points at 10:23am, Cairo time.

Most blue-chip stocks saw a slide, most significantly CIB that fell 0,38% to EGP39.56 at 10:27am, Cairo time.

The broader index EGX100 opened the session 0.14 lower to 771.7 points. Likewise, the equal weighted index EGX50 opened 0.07% up to 1,403 points.

In contrary, the small and mid-cap rose 0.22% to 362 points in early trade.

The bourse registered a trading value of EGP26.3 million. In addition, it saw 9 stocks move up, 27 go down, 30 ones stay at their previous levels.

Nationals were net sellers by EGP4.3 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP3.6 million and EGP726,000 respectively.  

Analysts expected Cairo bourse to see Tuesday a correction movement as the benchmark breaks the main key support level of 7,360 at Monday’s close.

Yesterday, the benchmark shed 0.83%, or 61.3 points, to settle at 7,342.46 points.
