Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange started the mid-week trading session in the green zone, turning a blind eye to the terrifying hijacking of EgyptAir plane.
At 10:45am Cairo Time, the benchmark rose 1.25% to 7,588 points. Likewise, the equal-weighted index EGX50 opened the session higher 1.37% to 1,428 points. The small and mid-cap index EGX70 increased 0.41% to 370. The broader index EGX100 also moved up by 0.47% to 798.7 points.
CIB, OTMT, EFG-Hermes, Talaat Moustafa Group, and Global Telecom saw a rise ranging between 1.2 – 8.6%.
Trading value reached EGP340 million after 194 million shares were traded in 10,000 transactions.
Nationals and Arab investors were net buyers by EGP4.7 million and EGP3.3 million respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers by EGP8 million
