EGX rises 0.36% at open on local buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Sunday’s trading in green, backed by purchase by local investors.

The EGX30 index grew 0.36% or 46.4 points to the level of 13,137.67 points, the EGX70 index rose 0.38% to 480.31 points and the EGX 100 index advanced 0.37% to 1,157.94 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.71% to 2,006.98 points.

By 10:18am Cairo time, trading volume reached 92.7 million shares exchanged at EGP 128.9 million through 3,353 transactions.

During this time, 44 stocks rose, 16 others declined and 26 stocks stood at the same rates.

Purchases by local investors amounted to EGP 4.5 million, while net sales by Arab and foreign investors reached EGP 2.5 million and EGP 2 million respectively.

Orascom Telecom topped gainers after adding 5.33%, while Orascom Construction led decliners after falling 1.37%.

Heavyweight CIB advanced 0.23% to EGP 77.51.
