EGX rises above 14,000 pts on Arab buying early Sunday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices rose collectively early Sunday, bolstered by Arab buying.

By 10:27 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index opened up 0.39% or 55.49 points to the level of 14,030.82 points.

The EGX70 index inched up 0.4% to 791.91 points, while the EGX100 index rose 1.17% to 1,761.75 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 edged up 0.62% to 2,350 points.

Trading volume stood at 21.7 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 117.9 million through 3,400 transactions.

Arab were net buyers with EGP 6.3 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 3.2 million and EGP 3.03 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) gained 0.63% to EGP 82.31, with a turnover of EGP 16.75 million.

Egyptian Chemical Industries (Kima) led the blue chips by 5.43%, followed by Arabian Cement and Elsewedy Electric Co, which levelled up 2.99% and 2.83%, respectively.

On the other hand, Egyptian resorts, Orascom Telecom, and Talaat Moustafa Group Holding (TMGH) fell 1.42%, 1.3%, and 0.88%, respectively.
