EGX rises for 9th session in row

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday’s trading in green for the ninth consecutive session, on the back of the buying activity of foreign investors.

The benchmark index EGX30 levelled up 0.07%, gaining 9.23 points, and closed at the level of 12,929.13 points.

EGX70 also added 0.34% to the level of 521.91 points, while the broader index EGX100 grew 0.27% to 1,243.07 points.

Meanwhile, the equal-weight index EGX50 lost 0.29% and closed at 1,990.43 points.

Traded values totalled EGP 1.6 billion with a total volume of 196.13 million shares.

The market capital rose by 167 million and closed at 637.997 billion.

Foreign investors leaned towards buying, netting EGP 163.3 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers at EGP 151.5 million and EGP 11.77 million, respectively.

Oriental Weavers Group was the session’s top gainer and surged 5.38%, followed by Pioneers Holding and Eastern Company with 1.81%, and 1.03%, respectively.

On the other hand, Iron and Steel led decliners and dropped 6.09%, followed by Cairo Oils and Soap and Ghabbour Auto with 5.10% and 4.91%, respectively.

Commercial International Bank - Egypt (CIB), the stock with the biggest weight in the main index, added 1.18% and closed at EGP 77.13.
