EGX's market cap hits all-time high in 9 yrs

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) market capitalisation climbed by EGP 200 billion, surpassing EGP 800 billion in 2017, EGX chairman Mohamed Farid said on Tuesday.

Market capitalisation registered record highs in nine years, Farid added during the EGX annual conference of 2017.

The EGX is considered the Arab world's most thriving stock market in 2017, he noted.

The benchmark EGX30 index has hit an all-time high since 2009 rising 49% or EGP 292 billion in 2017 compared with the previous year, the chairman highlighted, pointing out that it is the highest fourth level the index has achieved in the EGX’s history
