EGX shoots above 6,100 mark in early trade

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) saw an early-trading rise today as the main gauge jumped by 2.05% or 122.7 points, crossing the 6,100 barrier to stand at 6,108.6 points, propelled by blue-chip stocks. 

CIB, Global Telecom Holding, EFG-Hermes and Elsewedy Electric rose by 2.54%, 1.6%, 9.7%, and 5.7% respectively.

The equal-weighted inex EGX50 also rose by 1.23% to 1,112.6, while the broader index EGX100 was 0.97% higher to 719.6 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 slightly grew by 0.15% to 356.4 points. 

Around 28.5 million shares were exchanged in 2,600 transactions at a turnover of EGP80 million.  

While nationals were net buyers by EGP20.8 million, foreign and Arab investors were net seller by EGP18.6 million and EGP2.2 million correspondingly.
