Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange closed Monday’s trading session in the red territory after its main index EGX30 saw a slide on blue-chip stocks.
The benchmark shed 77.7 points, closing 1.04% down to 7,417 points.
The small and mid-cap erased early gains, ending the session 1.07% lower to 369.6 points.
The broader index EGX100 fell 0.68% to the mark of 775.8 points.
The equal-weighted index EGX50 also declined by 0.67% to 1384.5 points.
The largest EGX30 constituent, CIB, was 3.4% lower to EGP 42.26 at close.
Cairo bourse registered a turnover of EGP 441.9 million. In addition, 38 stocks moved up; 88 went down; and 35 stayed at their previous levels.
Foreign investors were net sellers by EGP 37.1 million, while nationals and Arab investors were net buyers by EGP 20 million and EGP 17.1 million respectively.
Market capitalization lost EGP 2.03 billion and finished at EGP 400.2 billion against EGP 402.2 billion on Sunday.
The top gainers were El Orouba Securities Brokerage, Minapharm Pharmaceuticals, and Alexandria Cement with a rise of 10%, 5.63%, and 4.80% respectively.
On the negative note, Egyptian Real Estate Group Bearer Shares, Kafr El Zayat Pesticides, Orascom Development Holding headed the losers with a slide of 6.6%, 5.87%, and 4.70% correspondingly.
